Make an Autumn Playlist

An Autumn Playlist is a list of all the ways you will have have fun this season. It’s a list of what you will be stitching, reading, playing, watching and listening to.

I love to plan my hobbies like this because it means that I won’t forget to do any projects/read any books that I said I wanted to. And it gives you something to get excited for and look forward to. If you know the next time you have a rainy Sunday that you have a movie lined up ready to watch, how much better will you feel about the bad weather?

You can get as detailed as you want. Make a list similar to mine or narrow it down a little and just write down what projects you are stitching and/or what books you will be reading. Just having something planned will mean you are more likely to find time to yourself to do the things on the list.

Nature – already read and loved it

Stitching

I have a few projects currently in the works for Cross Stitch Club members that I can’t share yet, so there are a few more than this. But my top 3:

  • Secret Garden – a year-long SAL inside the Cross Stitch Club
  • Movie Magic SAL – this year’s Christmas Stitch Along (2025)
  • Fall Fest – a brand new SAL for Autumn exclusively for the Cross Stitch Club members

Reading

You can split your books between ‘reading’ and ‘listening’ if you plan to listen to some on audio. I have kept all mine on this list so it doesn’t get confusing when you are reading it.

  • My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan
  • The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
  • The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
  • Ruthless Vows (Divine Rivals 2) by Rebecca Ross
  • This Spell Can’t Last by Isabel Sterling
  • Oathbound (Legendborn #3) by Tracey Deonn
  • The Last Legacy by Adrienne Young
  • A Sea of Unspoken Things by Adrienne Young
  • Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young
  • How to Kill a Rockstar by Tiffanie DeBartolo
  • A Witches Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna
  • Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston
  • Weyward by Emilia Hart
  • Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

Playing

These are the other hobbies I will be doing over the Autumn season. It’s fun to have other hobbies to turn to if you’re not in the mood for stitching. Of course, stitching and reading are hobbies too but I left them off here as they have their own section.

  • Lego – building a haunted house
  • Dreamlight Valley on the Switch
  • Colouring Autumn pages in my colouring in book
  • Stickers – I recently bought a kids Witches and Wizards sticker book and I absolutely love it.

Watching

I like to have a few programmes in my rotation and usually they are a rewatch but I like watching new things too. You will see, I like to plan my watching because I watch different things at different times during the day.

  • Gilmore Girls – on work from home days this is on in the background for some noise
  • Once Upon a Time – my evening show to have on when stitching
  • Wednesday – I have been saving the new series for October and I can’t wait to watch it

Listening

As I said above, you can put audiobooks here or anything else you might listen to – podcasts/music etc. I’m not massively into music but I do love a podcast. It’s hard to plan these but this is what I’m currently loving.

  • Gilmore to Say – the perfect Autumn podcast
  • Morning Microdose – a quick 10 minute podcast for the mornings
  • Bookmarked – great author interviews and book recommendations

Final thoughts

I hope this episode helps you get excited for Autumn and any self-care time you might get. I know some people will think this is an odd thing to do – plan your hobbies – but if you are a multi-passionate person it is needed sometimes so we don’t get overwhelmed by choice or decision fatigue.

Happy stitching!
