Day 1 Pick your projects
Just like a reading list, I love picking what projects I am going to work on for a season. Narrowing down helps stop the overwhelm of trying to decide what to stitch next and makes sure you are still enjoying what you are stitching.
Before we dive in, if you only stitch one project at a time you might not get a lot out of today. But you could use this method to line up the projects you want to stitch next instead.
The first thing to do is gather all of the projects you are currently working on into one place. Do not be alarmed at how many you have! I know people who have over 50 current WIPs in their stash. I am usually around 10-20.
Now start splitting them into 3 piles; not right now, maybe and hell yes.
I think these are pretty self-explanatory but “not right now” means you’re just saving it for later, “maybe” is for the can’t decide and “hell yes” is for ones you are excited about and want to stitch right now.
Once you’re one, look through your maybe pile and if you have more than 5 in your hell yes, these need to be moved to not right now. If you have under 5, see if there are any you are just as excited about in that maybe pile.
Now it’s time to narrow down your hell yes pile to 3-5 projects depending on the size. If you know you will get a couple finished before summer is over, go up to 5. If not, I would try and stick with 3 for the rest of the season.
I know this is hard! But come September you can do this process all over again for the next season.
Now, put all those other WIPs away for now. If you want a fun way to store them, listen to this quick tip episode.
And that’s it for today, that’s all you have to do. Of course, a bit of stitching now would be perfect, but otherwise, hang tight until tomorrow for the next part of the challenge.
