Store Projects in Tote Bags

This episode and tip comes from Joyce, a Cross Stitch Club member who has the most wonderful ideas.

She shared that she stores her unfinished cross stitch projects in themed tote bags. So, for Christmas, for example, she has a Christmas-themed tote bag and keeps any projects that need finishing in this tote bag.

This blew my mind, and I know I had to share it with you all.

Tote bags are a great option because they can fit quite a lot in, and I personally love a tote bag.

This can work for so many holidays and themes – Easter, Halloween, the seasons, design styles such as florals, and colours. The options are endless and add an amazing extra layer of organisation to your storage.

You don’t have to go out today and buy a whole load of tote bags, but it is something you can do slowly over time and start building up your system of tote bag storage.

Narrow down

If you want to do this too, the first thing I recommend is deciding on your themes and what you will keep in the bags.

The three options are 1. half finished projects so you can get them out each season to try and finish off, 2. finished projects that you put away after that season/holiday is over or 3. both.

Then your themes – are you going to narrow down by holidays, season, design style, colour, designer, etc?

Finally, start buying the bags (like I said above – slowly). And I also recommend keeping the different bags together in the same place. Just on a shelf somewhere, hanging together somewhere or just in a box.

I think this way of storing will help make sure you finish off projects because they will all be grouped together, so it will be easier to find; you will probably be going in and out of the bags a lot, and so it’s not an out of sight, out of mind situation.

This is also really easy to test out, and if it doesn’t work for you, there’s nothing really lost – in fact, you’ve just gained some fun tote bags for shopping in different seasons.
