The Heart of the Home 2021 Mystery Cross Stitch-a-Long (SAL) is coming and this time we are making a banner to hang up in our kitchen/dining room!
It’s currently on early bird special pricing and you can join here.
You can listen to me talking about the SAL below or keep scrolling to read.
The Cross Stitch-a-Long details
We start stitching on the 21st February 2021 and finish on 4th April 2021.
This design measures around 8.4 x 10.1 inches and we are turning it into a banner that will measure around the same size, just a tad longer.
The threads
I love offering 2 colour palettes for this one and I’ve done the same for this one. However, as we are hanging this in a specific room in our home you may want to choose your own colours and I can help you with this if you need it.
The 2 palettes use 10 colours each and one is peaches, pinks and soft browns where as the other is reds, blacks and bold brown. I recommend stitching this on coloured aida too but if you want to stitch on white you will just need to swap out the white colours I use in the pattern for either grey or blue (I explain this more inside the SAL).
You get all of these threads in the full kit which you can read more about below.
The fabric
For this SAL you will need just 1 piece of aida (I recommend 16 count and the details are all inside the SAL) and maybe some interfacing to put on the back when you are finishing it off.
The patterns
The pattern is released weekly via a platform called Teachable. The layout inside works great for SALs and all of the parts of the pattern are in the same place for you!
It’s quite simple to use, you just need to create an account and login each week to either download the pattern or read it right inside Teachable. The photo below shows you the layout inside.
The pattern will be made live every Sunday at around 8 am GMT. It’s split into small manageable parts and is a full-colour pattern with symbols.
FAQs about the Countdown to Christmas SAL
What is a Stitch-a-Long?
A stitch-a-long is an event where we all stitch the same pattern together over a set number of weeks for a certain length of time. So for the Heart of the Home Stitch-a-Long we are stitching together for around 6 weeks.
I go into more detail on this blog post if you need any more details on how SALs work.
What do you get in this SAL?
If you choose just the PDFs they will be released weekly starting Sunday 21st February 2021 and there will be a list of the supplies you need once you’re inside.
Once you join the SAL there will be a link to purchase the kit too, if you would like one. The kits will include the materials needed to make a banner, plus the option to add a few helpful tools as well.
Is the Heart of the Home SAL for a beginner?
There is a bit of backstitching in it and a few fractional stitches but other than that it’s all full cross stitches for this one.
I include video tutorials for any parts that go beyond what a beginner would know. And you can also request tutorials for me to add too; I’m always more than happy to do that.
This is another reason why I use Teachable; because I can add videos to each week if you need one.
Can I see the SAL before I buy it?
If you would like to see the full design before you purchase just get in touch and I can show you, but I do ask that you keep it to yourself for those who like the mystery element. Just email hannah@hannahhandmakes.com
When do we start stitching?
We start stitching on Sunday 21st February 2021 for 6 weeks.
How does the ordering process work?
Once you click to join, you will be taken to checkout at Teachable, where the SAL is hosted.
Please note, if you are in the E.U. you will have a little bit of extra VAT added on for the digital tax download tax laws.
You can then choose to pay via credit card or PayPal. The SAL is priced in $ but your payment provider will convert it for you if you are paying in a different currency.
You can also make an account with Teachable, you just need your name and email and then you can set a password later. This is how you can log in and access your SAL whenever you want.
I can’t wait to see you inside for another fabulous stitch-a-long!
