The Galaxy Cross Stitch-a-Long (SAL) 2020 has officially launched (pun intended) and this time we are stitching space!
This design measures around 6.5 x 8.5 inches, a similar size to my 2019 Hello Spring SAL which you can see below.
The Galaxy SAL threads
Usually, for my SALs I offer 2 palettes of threads, but that didn’t quite work for this design as I have tried to make it true to colours you find in Space.
But there are some beautiful threads used in this design including the glitter, Etoile threads, variegated threads (different shades of 1 colour in a skein) and glow in the dark!
You get all of these threads in the full kit which you can read more about below.
The Galaxy SAL fabric
This is where I have offered a bit of a choice. This SAL will look best stitched on black or navy blue aida if you are buying your own supplies, however, if you get a kit from me you can get some hand dyed galaxy aida in a choice of either black/grey/pink/purple or black/grey/blue/green.
It is so beautiful, but also limited! And please note that every piece will have different shades in and no 2 pieces are exactly the same.
What do you get in this SAL?
If you choose just the PDFs they will be emailed to you weekly and you will get a list of the supplies you need a month before we start (or if you purchase close to the time it will be emailed to you when you order).
I’ve gone simple with the kit this year and just get what you need; the galaxy fabric (either pink/purple or blue/green or both), all the colours of threads you need, a couple of needles and a threader.
However, you can add extras to your kit via the supplies section of my website and if you want a hoop to help you when you’re stitching you can choose to add this too.
Is the Galaxy SAL for a beginner?
There is a bit of backstitching in it but other than that it’s all full cross stitches for this one. The only problem you might have if you are a beginner is stitching on dark coloured aida but I will be posting advice about that before we start.
Can I see the SAL before I buy it?
If you would like to see the full design before you purchase just get in touch and I can show you, but I do ask that you keep it to yourself for those who like the mystery element.
When do we start stitching?
We start stitching on Sunday 1st March 2020. This one is short and sweet with 5 weeks of stitching, so we finish Sunday 29th March 2020.
How does the ordering process work?
Once you place your order I use the email you provide when ordering to add you to a list of SAL participants (I do this manually so I do ask for 48 hours before you will receive your welcome email for the SAL).
If you just order the PDFs then once you open that welcome email you will receive a dispatch email soon after. This is just to help keep me on track with who is receiving the emails OK and who might be having trouble.
If you don’t open that welcome email I will reach out to make sure the email address is correct.
If you order a kit then you will receive a dispatch email when your kit has shipped and you have opened the welcome email.
Supply lists for the SAL will be emailed Sunday 2nd February giving you a month to grab everything you need.
And then you will get the first part of the pattern Sunday 1st March 2020!
I can’t wait to do some space stitching with you!
